lo e te per sempre
You and Me Forever
Il matrimonio è meraviglioso, ma non è destinato a durare per sempre.
Marriage is wonderful, but it is not meant to last forever.
Marriage is "till death do us part." Then we will have to give an account, and eternal rewards or regrets will come, depending on how we have spent our lives.
We cannot allow either things of little importance to destroy our marital union, nor can we allow marriage to distract us from things of great importance.
The Lord is a jealous God and asks us to seek him more than anything else. At that point life gains meaning and everything finds its proper place.
Many books on marriage focus on psychological techniques for improving communication between spouses and learning to deal with temperament differences.
Based on Francis and Lisa Chan's experience, however, it is far more important for both spouses to devote their energies to working for the things that will have an eternal duration. In this way, by looking to the Lord and building his kingdom, many of the small daily problems and selfish attitudes will disappear.
In this sense, the book is also an extremely interesting read for singles.
Jesus was right: in God's kingdom, things work in reverse. The way to succeed in having a wonderful marital union is not to focus on it.
